Water Quality

Volunteer River Monitoring Program

Beginning in Spring 2026, the Riverwalk Committee and Downeast Salmon Federation are  looking for volunteers to assist with collecting data on water quality as part of the Volunteer River Monitoring Program (VRMP) from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

A  team of volunteers will regularly visit several beautiful sites on the  Narraguagus River to record data on temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen,  and salinity. These data will be used to help understand river  conditions that impact recreation, fish, and wildlife.

Everyone  is welcome, and no previous experience is needed. Training and support  will be provided—just bring your curiosity and love for the river. If you would like to be part of this sampling team, please fill out the form below.
